The inspiration for my body of work developed from my love of woodworking, inspired by the traditional masters of the craft. The various images, prints and shapes crafted entirely through forms of timber encapsulate my love of the material and the processes used to craft beautiful artworks, landscapes of images and grain.
The marquetry images provide the means; tools, spaces, the workplace for the timber to present itself raw, unfinished, to be moulded into the desired piece. The prints, simpler, pay homage to the structure of the timber itself, an interconnectedness of fibres and lignin, crafting a beautiful strength so easily presentable. Finally, the sculptures, combine the skills and joys of the methods of making with the illustrious form of timber, displaying bare my love to this craft.

My artmaking practice has been influenced by the study and interpretation of the following artists: 16th century Italian Intarsia artisans, Abraham and David Renkin, Silas Kopf, William Alexander Lincoln, Michael Retter.
