“No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it’s not the same river and he’s not the same man.” Guided by Heraclitus’s reflection on impermanence, my Body of Work explores how time transforms our understanding of past experiences to shape identity. Inspired by Charles Brooks’s exploration of the unseen interiors of musical instruments and Wassily Kandinsky’s translation of emotion into visual rhythm, I map my deeply personal relationship with music, translating auditory cadence into a distinct visual palette where sound aligns directly with colour. Through printmaking techniques including photogravure, embossing and delicate chine-collé, I build tactile layers of memory, repetition and abstraction. These physical processes mirror how moments once fraught with pressure and resistance can evolve into sources of self-expression, inviting viewers to consider how our inner landscapes are continually reinterpreted as we grow.
