Oliver Turnbull
Head in the Clouds

My Body of Work explores the essence of daydreaming, whilst appreciating the beauty and transient nature of the world through the lens of serene cloudscapes. Grounded in a sense of reality, my work takes the audience on a journey beginning in the mundane, yet unique urban landscapes of Australia’s roads and buses, gradually shifting towards the sky and clouds above which represent a distinctly human desire to be free and unbound by modern struggles. Utilising the medium of Oil paint, I lean on the modernist endorsement of romanticism and representation of daily life to depersonalise my own experiences to a universal degree, so that my work may resonate within the desires of the audience.
